Eye Illusion

By:  Dorine Chan

The design of French national flag was originally red, blue and white, each with 33.3 percent of area on the flag. But due to the illusion of human eyes, people always felt that the red color was too little and the blue color was too much. So based on the brightness of the shades, chromatic and optical experts adjusted the red area to 37 percent and blue area to 33 percent, while white area accounts for 30 percent. The width of colors differs but the vision is balanced. This proves that the human eyes often have illusion. Drawing a vertical line on the blackboard, and if you divide it into two equal parts only by the measurement of naked eye, most likely the lower half will be a few inches more than the upper half, but the visual feeling is a balance. On the other hand, if we use a ruler to get the exact equal portions, there will be a feeling that the upper half is more than the lower half. That's why the construction of painting and the composition of Chinese character have to accommodate our vision, for example, the composition of Chinese character "吕" and "森" will make us feel comfortable. This is of course related to the environment. All things in the nature are mostly light on the upper part and heavy on the lower part, which is due to the gravity. Here I do not talk about it in depth. People not only have misconception by the naked eye, but also often have the wrong impression by heart. People always like to feel God as well as see churches and other people according to their own likes and dislikes. We still only think and act in accordance with our interests, believing that's good in our own conceit. In fact, it is glaringly wrong. If we do not become really humble, we will never understand the Bible. If we refuse to abandon some "plausible" deduction, we will never communicate with God.
