Revisiting Miracles

Witness of the Body

No part of God's word is for people to perform, and no one can perform them at all. God was willing to listen to the prayer of Elijah on the Caramel mountains and cooled down, because he wanted to prove that only Jehovah was God (1 Kings 18:30-39). God was willing to prove himself through miracles, but never allowed human beings to perform with miracles. If anyone wants to bring miracles for performances, God will let them fail and God will not help them tell the truth nor prove for them. God only does what he wants to do and will never do according to human being's will. Confidence is the most natural thing without effort. It is not standing there shouting, "I believe in at here!" Such confidence would make you die through fatigue. Miracles are also natural, not believed or done by people with much. When describing the scene that Israelis went through the Red Sea, the Bible does not record them shouting, "What a great miracle!" They only sang psalms to praise after reaching the other side of the Red Sea. When they looked back, they thought it was a miracle. How many times have you bumped difficulties which were resolved, and did you feel that big things happen? No, it was only when you looked back you found something happened. Even the looking back was not deliberately but naturally. Those who believe in the Lord are the same. When God is doing the miracle on them, they do not know. And only when they look back they learn that God has done a miracle for them. Paul once was bitten by a snake and he took the snake to the fire (Acts 28:3-5). He did not say to the people on the Malta Island, "I want you to see a miracle!" He just simply threw the snake into the fire without any advocate. People do not know God would advocate God's miracles and think that was an extraordinary thing, which only proves their naive. If a man is determined to do miracles, miracles would be away from him. It is just as being determined to do good things and good things will not come out. If we live in front of God, there will be miracles unknowingly. Here we get an important principle in the Christian experience: God hears the prayers of people and works for us unconsciously. Paul had experienced many miracles and wonders, but he said that he had "weakness, fear and trembling" (1 Corinthians 2:3). The person truly used by God will not think that he can do this and do that. The things are just done. We as Christians will become simpler along with working. If it is complicated, there must be problem.
